Is God real?
Is God real? Now there is a question that leads to many more questions. Ok let’s throw some answers at this, that hopefully will spark the right questions that can lead you to a place where we feel peaceful with the conclusion.
Who was Jesus?
Before we can answer the is god real question, we must address the who was Jesus question. Let’s investigate the who was Jesus question first. Then we can remove some barriers to finding our peace in a frantic world.
Bad experience of church?
Many of us have had bad, even terrible experiences of church. Others have been confused by media (both truth and lies) and linked this to Jesus. Jesus is not religion, church or even Christianity. He should be the focal point of all those systems. In many examples he is but increasingly in most cases he is not. Man/woman has taken control of the systems that should be led by the holy spirit of god and side-lined the beauty of Jesus. We look at this in detail throughout this site. But for now, know this, he is a real historical figure (whatever you believe he was or is), he existed.
Peace through Jesus leads to god.
One of the last things Jesus said on earth can be found in John 14:27. Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid. So, give me some slack and temporarily at least imagine that Jesus is god. So, if you don’t have peace in your life, then come on this Q&A journey with me.
1 If there is no god how did I get here?
A new theory Richard Dawkins claims the answer to the eternal question is God real?
A new theory could answer the question of how life began – and throw out the need for God. A writer on the website of Richard Dawkins’ foundation says that the theory has put God “on the ropes” and has “terrified” Christians. It proposes that life did not emerge by accident or luck from a primordial soup and a bolt of lightning. Instead, life itself came about by necessity – it follows from the laws of nature and is as inevitable as rocks rolling downhill.
The problem for scientists attempting to understand how life began is understanding how living beings – which tend to be far better at taking energy from the environment and dissipating it as heat – could come about from non-living ones.
But a new theory, proposed by a researcher at MIT and first reported in Quanta Magazine, proposes that when a group of atoms is exposed for a long time to a source of energy, it will restructure itself to dissipate more energy. The emergence of life might not be the luck of atoms arranging themselves in the right way, it says, but an inevitable event if the conditions are correct.
Well if this is what it seems to be, which is one of the world’s leading atheists and one of the worlds top universities best shot at proving there is no god. Then here writing is one Christian who is not terrified.
See for me one of the big problems with atheists is they seem to have no emotion other than anger. If you know an atheist who isn’t in the most place angry please introduce us. They don’t seem to understand or reason their own anger and mostly seem to have no need or understanding of the deeper heart felt emotions.
An atheist perspective on love
First, people’s actions can be observed, documented and their actions, not their words, can have a rational (and logical) analysis that can “measure” their care for or interest in something. In short, if someone tells me “I love you,” I take that as a compliment and nice gesture but based on their actions — I am them able to establish the degree that I believe their statement, and what they mean by it. Love can be temporary. Someone else’s love may not be mine (it’s subjective). I’m not sure what the above means but I hope it bears no resemblance to how I love my wife, my kids and myself.
You see atheists will always avoid emotion because there is even less chance of rationalising that to some atoms that arrived out of nowhere and evolved into an ape and so on. They just don’t go there. I find the whole atoms appeared out of nowhere and turned into zen Buddha after a few million years simply ridiculous. It’s a bit like throwing a hand grenade into a car junk yard and a perfect brand new ready to roll taxed and insured Ferrari appears as the smoke settles. If we agree the junk yard theory doesn’t work, then we must agree there is a god, so……….?
2 Can we prove that the answer to the question is God real; is yes?
Well, yes and no, you see in my mind I can’t prove it to your mind, that God exists. Any more than Richard Dawkins can prove God doesn’t exist in any sphere of measurement he would consider appropriate to this or any other argument. Everystudent.com looks at it this way
However, only when we introduce spirituality in all its fullness, something all good atheists avoid like the plague, do things get interesting. I said questions would emerge from answers and why not? Think about it? Are you like me? Has any worthwhile destiny you have reached involved making numerous decisions on the way? Of course it has. What fuels a decision; only one thing can, a question. Lets look at another one?
3 What is a spirit and is that where we find the answer to the god question?
The Oxford English dictionary offers this on spirit the non-physical part of a person which is the seat of emotions and character; the soul. ‘we seek a harmony between body and spirit’ relating to a person’s emotions. An early google response during my research for links between spirit and emotion was this synonyms: spiritual, inner, psychic, psychological, of the heart “their emotional needs are often ignored “In short we as humanity are so connected between spirit body and emotion that to investigate God from a mind only point of view as most if not all committed atheists do would be bonkers!
4 What does the bible say about this?
2 Now the earth was formless and empty, darkness was over the surface of the deep, and the Spirit of God was hovering over the waters.
16 As soon as Jesus was baptized, he went up out of the water. At that moment heaven was opened, and he saw the Spirit of God descending like a dove and alighting on him.
50 And when Jesus had cried out again in a loud voice, he gave up his spirit.
6 Flesh gives birth to flesh, but the Spirit[a] gives birth to spirit.
I could go on there are in fact 563 references to spirit in the bible and only 163 mentions of the mind. As the bible is responsible as a reference to our faith in god or lack of it. Maybe we should search for the answer to the is god real question, not in our minds or bodies but in our spirit.
